What began as a podcast for the soulfully queer—created by husbands Brandon Alter and Angel Lopez—gradually grew into a thriving spiritual business offering a wide range of metaphysical services. As their platform expanded, The Spiritual Gayz needed a cohesive brand identity that honored their origins while supporting their evolution.

The brand needed more than just a visual facelift—it needed a system that could unify their offerings, strengthen their presence, and serve as a calling card for their growing community. Through expressive typography, bold color, layered imagery, sacred geometry, and esoteric symbolism, I crafted an identity system that reflects the rich depth and irreverent magic of The Spiritual Gayz experience.

THE LOGO

At the center of the brand is The Eye—two interlocking rings symbolizing vision, transformation, and the partnership at its core.

Astrological references—Aries and Aquarius—flank The Eye, while a segmented iris represents the zodiac wheel. Scattered stars and planets dance with light and shadow, evoking the mystical aesthetic the brand embodies.

The primary mark contains the full experience; while the simplified Eye serves as the favicon and secondary mark, operating as a portal for the community.

COLOR & TYPE

Kaleidoscopic in nature, The Spiritual Gayz color palette is bold and vibrant. Each hue draws inspiration from the sky at dawn or dusk, invoking the transformative power of these liminal hours. When applied across brand touchpoints, the colors flow together in dynamic gradients that mirror the LBGTQ+ Pride Rainbow.

The brand is anchored by a pair of typefaces: Timber Wolf and Brandon Grotesque. Timber Wolf is expressive and textured, channeling the brand’s irreverent, playful spirit. It’s used sparingly for headlines and moments of impact. In contrast, Brandon Grotesque provides balance with its casual clarity and geometric warmth, ideal for body copy and subheadings.

PODCAST ARTWORK

The Spiritual Gayz podcast artwork distills the brand’s essence into a single, intimate composition. The husbands’ profiles frame The Eye as starlight radiates outward across a layered gradient sky. The wordmark anchors the piece, grounding the image with clarity and presence.

SOCIAL MEDIA TEMPLATES & STRATEGY

Rooted in the brand’s playful, irreverent tone, the social media templates blend levity with soulfulness. Designed for flexibility, content can either break the grid with dynamic, scroll-stopping visuals or live seamlessly within a single frame. Vivid gradients, expressive typography, layered textures, and vibrant photography ensure each post is unmistakably on-brand.

A comprehensive set of brand guidelines accompanied the identity system, outlining logo usage, typography, color treatments, and image styling.
